So Many Reasons to Smile
Case 1
Concern
This patient was unhappy with the following aspects of her smile:
- Spaces between teeth
- Small size of teeth
- Poor alignment of teeth
- Striations (stripey look) across teeth
- Lower front teeth too short – not visible when smiling
Phase IBefore – Lips Retracted
Solution
Phase I
Gum surgery was performed to expose hidden tooth structure. Then bonding was placed to increase height of lower front teeth.
Phase IPost- Gum Surgery
Temporary veneers were placed for patient to wear for 1-2 weeks. Desired changes in shape, color, and form were made in the temporary veneers which were used as a model for the final porcelain veneers.
Phase ITemporary Veneers
Phase II
Eight porcelain veneers were placed on upper teeth. All initial concerns were satisfactorily addressed. A nightguard was made to protect the teeth from grinding during sleep. Future work is planned for several back teeth.
